Sometimes, to change the world, all you need is a song and a guitar. And it's probably an acoustic guitar (rather than a classical or Spanish guitar) that you'll want.
There are many, many acoustic (steel-strung) guitars around with prices varying as wildly as their build-quality and tone. Our own F310 model is one of the UK's most popular, thanks to its consistent performance and keen price but we think our FG800 is an even better choice, especially when you're just starting to learn guitar.
The FG800 has a western/dreadnought body shape, giving it that classic Folk/Country/singer-songwriter look and efficient projection of sound. But what sets the FG800 apart from similarly-shaped beginner guitars are its build-quality, solid-spruce tonewood top and our unique internal design.
Cheaper guitars - including our F310 model - tend to use laminated top panels where, rather than being a single cut of wood, the panel is made by layering multiple thin sheets of wood together with glue. Far less wood is needed (and so it's less costly to make), but the layers and glue conspire to work against the vibration of the guitar strings and air, inhibiting both the quality and volume of the sound.
Instead, the FG800 features a solid spruce top, crafted to shape, which is then free to resonate with the rest of the guitar and surrounding air. Combined with our uniquely-designed internal bracing (support beams), the whole guitar creates a warm, rich tone which is a joy to play and hear.
All of which means that you'll want to play the FG800 for longer and more frequently between lessons - driving forward your progress - and those around you will enjoy listening.
For smaller beginners, our FS800 offers the same specification in a slightly smaller body shape; for much younger beginners, our JR2 Guitar also features a solid spruce top in a 3/4-size dreadnought body.
