Features
Alnico V Pickups
Alnico V magnets are used for both single coil and humbucker to deliver a clear strumming tone with good projection plus a tight sound that doesn't get buried in the ensemble.
Coil Tap Function
A coil tap function on the rear humbucker delivers a wide range of tonal possibilities, from hard distortion to an edgy single coil tone. A switch in the tone knob allows quick switching between humbucker and single coil tone. Setting the pickup selector to the 4th position automatically selects the coil tap function that delivers a clear halftone from the pair of singles.
Block Saddle Vintage Type Tremolo
The block saddle type vintage tremolo offers excellent operation. The heavy block type saddle delivers rich sustain and deep tone.
Ring Mount Rear Pickup
Like the top-end Pacifica models, the rear pickup is mounted directly to the body. This configuration captures body resonance, delivering greater dynamic tone rather than pickguard mounting.

Questions & Answers
Question: Is the Pacifica 120H guitar suitable for a beginner?
Answer
Thank you for getting in touch. The Pacifica 120H is a great guitar but its sister model, the Pacifica 112V might be the better option for a beginner.
The Pacifica 120H has 2 pickups (one at the bridge, another at the base of the neck) - both are 'humbucker' pickups. Humbucker pickups can create full, rich and 'dark' tones and are great for overdriving (and therefore known for blues, rock and metal styles). If you're looking for a great guitar for these types of tones, the Pacifica 120H is perfect.
But, especially for a beginner, it's handy to have the other main type of pickup - a 'single coil'. Single coil pickups produce a brighter, lighter sound - used in all sorts of genres of music. The Pacifica 120H has a 'coil tap' switch which turns one of its humbuckers into a single coil.
However, the sister model, the Pacifica 112V, has 2 single coil pickups and 1 humbucker pickup (also with a coil tap switch) - with a selector switch to choose different combinations of the pickups for different tones. This offers a greater range of different tones.
Another major difference between the two is in the bridge on the body of the guitar, where the strings are attached. The Pacifica 120H has a 'hard-tail' bridge - the strings are fixed to the bridge which is fixed to the body so that only the guitarist's fingers or plectrum will make the strings move, shorten and lengthen.
The Pacifica 112V has a tremelo/vibrato bridge - it comes with a tremelo arm (or 'whammy bar') which - if wanted - slots into the Pacifica 112V's slightly flexible bridge, allowing the guitarist to add vibrato/trememo by pushing down on the tremelo arm which slightly alters the length of the strings.
The pickup configuration and bridge combine to make a huge range of different guitar tones possible on the Pacifica 112V which aren't on the Pacifica 120H, making it ideal for a beginner's first electric guitar.
We offer the Pacifica 112V as part of a Beginner Pack which includes a great home guitar amp, softcase, cable, stand, guitar strap and guitar picks.
