Overview
The YTR-2330 trumpet is the perfect starter instrument for students. The main focus for the design was on a light and easy to play trumpet with a great sound and perfect intonation. Yamaha design instruments with an emphasis on the ergonomics so that they offer beginners optimum support thereby greatly assisting learning, progress and creativity.
To help create a lighter instrument, the YTR-2330 has been designed without a brace on the main tuning slide and benefits from the ideal thickness two-piece yellow brass bell. The monel alloy pistons are well known for their good, consistent action and minimise the need for maintenance.

Questions & Answers
Question: I play the YTR-2330 with the mouthpiece provided. I'd like to start specialising in Jazz and I'm looking for a suitable mouthpiece which is versatile, responsive and allows for easier blowing to obtain the higher notes (without too much loss of the lower C-F range). Could you recommend two or three mouthpieces for Jazz?
Answer
We're glad to hear you're getting on well with your YTR-2330.
Regarding an alternative mouthpiece for Jazz, we'd suggest the following models:
- 14B4 & 15B4:
- These have slightly wider rims and a deeper cup; these are ideal for getting a stronger lower register
- 13A4A:
- This mouthpiece is designed for lead trumpet playing and works well for Jazz - however, it may require more effect when playing the lower register
- 8C4:
- This has a smaller rim and is an excellent all-round mouthpiece able to cover Jazz, classical and other genres without difficulty
- Bobby Shew Jazz:
- Similar in size to the 14B4, the Bobby Shew Jazz Signature mouthpiece has a roomy cup for a warm, big sound and a throat and backbore designed to give enough jump and snap for maneuvering through quick jazz passages with a rich full sound
